Recent Filing for Wrongful Termination
The Law Offices of Thomas E. Kennedy III, L.C. recently filed suit in St. Louis County, Missouri, on behalf of our client, a former employee of Paul Cerame Auto Group. This lawsuit alleges age discrimination and wrongful termination in violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act. Read the complaint here.
Our client was sixty-three years old at the time of her termination. She worked for Paul Cerame Auto Group for sixteen years. During those sixteen years, our client went above and beyond what was required of her, and she was often praised for her hard work. In 2017, her employer told our client her position would be eliminated due to company cutbacks. However, the position was never eliminated, but was instead filled by a woman approximately half of our client’s age.
The lawsuit alleges that our client was not fired because of company cutbacks, but instead, was fired because of her age. The Missouri Human Rights Act makes it unlawful for an employer to discharge any individual or otherwise discriminate against any individual with respect to compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of that individual’s age. This lawsuit seeks to recover damages of back pay and front pay, lost benefits, emotional distress, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, and attorneys’ fees and court costs.
